The Greater Kudu is a large elegant antelope. Bulls are characterized by their impressive spiral shaped horns. “Majestic” was the first thought I had when I laid eyes on this magnificent Kudu. Spotted by my husband, Stephen, while driving through Kruger National Park in South Africa, the bull had just come up from the river behind him and stood strong and erect as if to pose for us. In this painting, I wanted to portray the incredible highlights from the backlight of bright sunshine streaming across his back and horns. Our guide and PH (Professional Hunter), Matthew, said to my husband, “Now that’s a proper Kudu, sir!” ~NEILL
